Yesterday Chancellor Merkel and Prime Minister Monti discussed the situation in the euro area on the phone.They agreed that Germany and Italy will take all necessary measures to protect the euro zone. They also agreed that the Conclusions of the European Council of June 28/29 must be implemented without delay. Chancellor Merkel invited Prime Minister Monti to meet in Berlin in the second half of August. PM Monti gratefully accepted the invitation".
